About Us

The College

Hartlepool Sixth Form College is one of just under a hundred specialist sixth form colleges around the country.  We offer high quality teaching with effective support and guidance to encourage you to set high personal goals and then go on to achieve them.

The atmosphere is more informal than school and you will have the opportunity to take more responsibility for your learning.  The skills developed at this stage will help prepare you for higher education, further training and employment.

Our Students

Hartlepool Sixth Form College has approximately 1,000 students aged between 16-19, most of whom are studying AS and A2 courses, but with an increasing number also choosing to take a BTEC Course as part of their programme.  Our full time CACHE Diploma in Child Care, equivalent to 3 ‘A’ level subjects is also very popular.  Currently we have more than 60 students also taking Intermediate level courses which include GCSEs, Digital Applications and the CACHE Certificate in Child Care.

The College has a small number of adults taking part time courses mainly in Child Minding and Early Years Education, ILEX (Institute of Legal Executives level 4 courses), the first year of a Law Degree (LLB Hons) and a Foundation Degree in Law.

Most of our students come from our partner schools in Hartlepool, but with a significant number also travelling in from out of town.

Extra Curricular Activities

Hartlepool Sixth Form College offers a wide range of activities which promote concern for the community, sporting success and your personal development.

You are encouraged to take part in activities which are both enjoyable and complement your academic studies.  Participation in these activities will also provide evidence of personal development which is highly regarded by both universities and employers.

Time on Wednesday afternoons is devoted to extra-curricular activities including sport.
